My Insignia remote controls my TCL tv

So I have an Insignia NS-40D510NA15 in the same room as my TCL 65S405. The problem is my Insignia remote also controls my TCL tv, such as turning it on, volume, selections, etc. However the TCL remote just works on the TCL tv like it should. I've tried using a universal remote on the Insignia, but the codes that did work also affect the TCL tv as well. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to get the remote that came with the Insignia or the universal one to stop working with both tvs.

Re: My Insignia remote controls my TCL tv

Hey Jdog2006,

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for reaching out to us.  The TV in my living room is connected to a soundbar, and my TV's remote will sometimes turn on and adjust the volume on both devices, while my soundbar remote will only work on the soundbar.  Basically, remote controls use infrared light to transmit binary codes to different products, and sometimes those codes will be received by more than one device at a time if they are within close proximity.  As far as I know, there is no way to disable a TV from receiving those codes.

I hope this doesn't cause you too much inconvenience.  Let us know if you have any other questions, anytime.
