I bought the tv on Black Friday the model is NS-58DF620NA20 and no matter what I'm watching the tv gets mute then I have to wait a while for the tv sound to come on

Hey guys I bought the same tv on black friday. I barely used it but when I started to I have the same freaking problem. I call best buy they set and appointment for someone to come.to my house. I don't feel comfortable with someone coming to my house. I told them I'd bring it to there store and they said no. I said how will you guys accommodate me. They didn't answer. When I was asked what was the issue. And I explained and the guy asked me when did i buy the tv. When I told.him black Friday the geek squad tech said "ohhh now I see why your having problems". Basically implying that he knows b grade TV's get sold as door busters. I have an appointment for Wednesday morning. Told them that the geek squad tech would be out side with my tv plugged in the outlet outside my house since I don't feel comfortable with a stranger in my house... I understand why they don't want people coming into the store with their brand new tv having issues it looks bad for them. But it shouldn't matter since I'm a CUSTOMER too.

I am also having this same sound issue. Would this problem be covered with the geek squad protection? We paid for the three year warranty when we purchased the tv.

The headphone cable trick actually worked! I cannot believe it! Hopefully, it will be fixed with a future software patch. I don't wanna watch TV with a headphone cable in hand all the time.

Just FYI, I did this recommended fix. Today the TV’s sound went out again. Wondering if Beat Buy will pull out their Super Bowl special for the Insignia 50” for $199. Since this might have the same issue. Hopefully Best Buy will address this issue with our Insignia 58” TV’s.

Thanks for reaching out. have you tried the previous suggestion of inserting and removing a headphone cable? That may clear this up for you.

 

If it doesn't, or if it comes back after trying that, please call Insignia support at (877) 467-4289. The television should still be covered under a manufacturer's warranty, but your Geek Squad Protection will also cover the television going forward.

As we learn more about this issue, it would be helpful to know if the issue comes back after trying the headphone cable, or if it seems to be a permanent solution. Please let me know if  the problem returns.

It's not a permanent solution. It happens again randomly. I'm just keeping a dummy 3.5 cable jack near my TV to fix it whenever it happens.
