if there's someone from Insignia out there reviewing these posts, why don't you retro this 2 year warranty to the people on here who's tv's blacked out after a year or so? you know when we purchased them so why can't you retro this? my dad's tv was on the fritz after a year and a half. i'd like to get this rectified for him w/ out going out and buying him a new tv. i purchased it on 8/3/07. a tv shouldn't be malfunctioning after only a year and a half. any response would be nice. thanks.

I AGREE, MY TV IS GOING DOWN THE PAN AFTER ONLY 18 MONTHS....
No tv costing $1200 should be defective after only a year!!!

Hello spearsrob and magnetchief,
Welcome to Community@Insignia™!
While we understand your frustration when your TV requires service after the warranty period, the warranty can't be extended. Service is available for Insignia™ TV owners when problems have developed. Contact details for scheduling service can be found in the owner's manual for your TV.

Well I'm in shock! Followed your advice.
$163 inc of tax to have someone come out and look at my tv I'm assuming this does not include the cost of any parts needed.
My local tv repair shop only charges $50 for diagnostic and this is put towards the cost of any replacement parts needed.
Disgusting state of afairs for a 18 month old TV.
Moral of the story, purchase the extended warranty if you are going to purchase an insignia product. You are going to need it.
Myself, I will find another brand for my next tv purchase.
