HD Audio Issues

I recently purchased an NS-LDVD26Q-10A (the 720p 26" HDTV w/ integrated DVD player) for my Dad, and set it up this weekend.  I have to say, for the price, I'm very impressed with the quality of construction, as well as the picture quality, especially with the unencrypted local HD channels provided by our cable provider (comcast).  I am having one issue though.

You see, I also set up the TV to work with his old (but high-end nevertheless) stereo system.  I've used RCA connectors to connect the stereo system to the "audio out" of the back of the TV.  The sound is great on pretty much all of the channels except for the HD channels.  Oddly enough, whenever we change to a channel broadcasting in high definition, the speakers cease to function, almost as if there is no signal being passed to the stereo system through the RCA jacks on the back of the TV.

So, my question is how exactly do I go about setting up the new TV to pass the audio signals from the HD channels through analog RCA audio outputs to the stereo system?

Thanks for any help you can give!

Re: HD Audio Issues

Hello Gesualdo,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!  I apologize for the long delay in replying.

I've consulted our technical team and they have informed me that HD audio is sent as a digital signal and is therefore not supported through an RCA connection.  It is therefore recommended that you try HDMI or SPDIF for the digital audio signal.

I hope this helps.

Sincerely,
John
