I received $30 reward certificate for spending $300 outside BestBuy. The email said "use by" Dec 8, 2019. I tried to use them today (Dec 8, 2019) and looks like they are expired. BestBuy's "use by" date is very confusing. So, I called the listed phone number, and the automated voice prompt said "looks like you have $30 reward points recently expired, would you like me to add those points back to your account?" I said yes, then voice prompt said it is done, I should be able to see points under my account. When I logged in, I didn't see points. So I called the number again and spoke to someone. He said he is sorry, BestBuy can't add them back because those points were for one time use only. He said those $30 are gone and there is no way BestBuy can give those back to me. I was saving points for about 6 months so I can buy something nice for holidays. I am hoping if BestBuy can add $30 worth of reward points to my account so I can use them for this holiday season.

Welcome back, and thank you for reaching out regarding your outside spending offer from your My Best Buy Visa! These outside spending offers are great ways to receive rewards even when you're shopping elsewhere. Just as other certificates expire, so do these, though they typically have a shorter redemption period. Per our My Best Buy Terms, one would typically have until 11:59 p.m. CT on the date listed to redeem the certificate. Once expired, certificates are generally unable to be reissued.
It sounds like this certificate should have still been valid though when you were attempting to redeem it, so I would be delighted to dig further into this with you. Please keep an eye on your inbox in the top right corner of the page for my private message.
