For years I have used my extra points to buy gift cards for employees and friends. This last weekend, I was told that is no longer the case. What gives? I have the points... I earned them, let me spend it on gift cards. I don't see what the problem is. This is not ok! I spend WAY too much money in BB to be cut off at the knees like this.

Good afternoon, ksuwyldcat,
Welcome to our forums and thank you for sharing your feedback with us. Earning rewards for your qualifying Best Buy purchases is one of the many benefits of the My Best Buy™ program, and I’m happy to hear you’re a member.
While there are a variety of products available for purchase using the reward certificates you’ve earned with your purchases, as it sounds like you’re aware, gift cards are no longer one of them. This is outlined in the My Best Buy® Terms, and has been in place as of February, 2019.
Thank you for posting,

That still doesn't answer why the change all of a sudden. One day it was fine the next day it wasn't. So what caused the change? That was the whole purpose of going with Best Buy, you buy stuff you get points, you use your points on what ever you want to use them on (gift cards included), and now slowly things are changing. Again, it just makes no since. You are getting my business either way you go. Taking away the Gift Card purchase is just silly. It makes no since, unless it is geared towards only spending points IN STORE for BestBuy items, and not anything else.
