NS-DV2G stuck at Insignia Splash

Hi, I've had my Insignia NS-DV2G MP3 player for about 2 years now and I've enjoyed it so far, recently every time I try to turn the device on it gets stuck at the Insignia splash screen where it says "Media Manager", I have tried powering it on as Files and Folders as well and it gets stuck there as well, I plug it in the computer and it doesn't recognize it, I can't do anything pretty much, what can I do? thanks.

Re: NS-DV2G stuck at Insignia Splash

Hello zRad,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

The owner's manual recommends connecting the player to one of the rear USB ports if it's not being recognized by the computer.  You can also reset the player by inserting a pointed object (such as a paperclip) into the reset port on the bottom of the unit.  Also, if possible, you should update to the latest firmware, which can be found here.  If you still have issues after following these steps, please let us know and we'll look into the trouble further.

Regards,

Re: NS-DV2G stuck at Insignia Splash

I have done all of that, I have reseted it a lot of times, I have the latest firmware installed as well and every time I turn it on, it stays at the green Insignia screen and it says there all the time, I reset it, it shuts off, I turn it off, green Insignia screen again. Looks like the battery now died since I was not able to charge it at all because I can't even turn it on with the USB attached to it, this just recently happened. I even went to Geek Squad at my local Best Buy and they couldn't do anything.

If you connect it to the computer does it do anything?

Re: NS-DV2G stuck at Insignia Splash

This wasn't an unheard of problem with the NS-DV especially if it was running pre 1.105 firmware. I beleive either the database becomes corrupt or a corrupt file causes it to hang on boot up. Without any dev tools, there was no way to fix this other than taking the flash daughter card from a doner NS-DV and putting it into the frozen unit. Doing that replaces the firmware, the filesystem, everything, allowing the unit to boot normally.

Yes, it goes to the Green Insignia splash screen, but it's not charging the player because if I unplug it it'll shut off.

So I guess I'm out of MP3 player huh? this sucks, I really liked this little device.
