Thanks Lx378. Pretty sad when you have to rely on the community rather than the manufacturer =)
Did you find that this worked for you? Anyone else have a good result with the upgrade?
I just installed the firmware upgrade and tried it out on Maid of Honor which previously would not even load into the menu, and it played the disc fine.

Welcome to Community @ Insignia™!
You may need to reset your player's output resolution. According to page 13 of the owner's manual, from the Set Up menu, select Display, then Resolution, then your desired output resolution or HDMI Auto. Hopefully, this will resolve the issue.

Just bought the 2BR-DVD. Performed firmware update--went fine. Transformers played until ch 13 then the audio started to cut out. Had to press pause and then play about every 90 seconds for the rest of the disk. Did a quick Google search and found that issues with this disk is a persistent issue. see AVS forums:
Thus, my question to John-INS, will there be a fix to this problem, or not?
Thank you for your attention to this.

Take it back while you can. The firmware to bring the player up to Profile 2.0 is 3 months overdue. They even released a new version (NS-BDLIVE), which comes with Profile 2.0. Why they can't get a firmware update for the NS-2BRDVD is beyond me (although one was promised to be released back in March). The only response we get is that they don't have a date for it yet.
Get a Sony or Samsung... Insignia is not worth it!

Update--Played Defiance (Daniel Craig) and Australia (Hugh Jackman etc.,) flawlessly. Jury still out, but looking up.
For $119.00, I'm not going to get too fired up if it doesn't play the stray Blu Ray, but if, over the longer term, it doesn't play one in five, then that's not acceptable. If I'd spent $350.00 for it I'd be flaming this forum for even one incompatible release without an immediate firmware update.
While it was a different oem, I have an Insignia PMP that the firmware was upgraded twice while it was an active product and once (as an unsupported beta release) after the model was discontinued. So I'm not quite ready to write off the Insignia folks.
However, I do believe that if there are no more firmware updates that will be released, Insignia ought to just say so.
