I recently made my first major appliance purchase from bestbuy.com, and I guess I should have known better than to expect a good customer experience. I placed my order for a washer, dryer, and two pedestals on Sept. 9. The earliest available date for delivery and installation was Oct. 15. None of the items were noted as being on back order.
The first sign of trouble occurred on Oct. 14, when I was informed via telephone that the washer could not be delivered until October 17. Rather than delay the entire order and risk some of the items being lost or not available, I told the rep to proceed with the delivery of the dryer and pedestals on Oct 15. We re-scheduled the washer installation for Oct 17. The dryer and pedestals were successfully delivered and installed on Oct. 15. The delivery men were very nice and noted that I could expect my washer in two days. It never arrived. I had to call customer service myself (I did not receive any courtesy call) and then discovered that the washer was now on back order and would not be delivered until after Thanksgiving. I fail to understand how this is possible since one minute it was clearly capable of being delivered within days and the next there are none available in the United States for over a month. Did someone hijack all the LG washers?
I don't think I'd be quite so upset if (1) I actually received a reasonable explanation in advance as to what happened to my washer I ordered over a month ago and (2) if this didn't put me out unreasonably; now my wife and I will have to rent a washer for the next month until our LG washer magically appears after Thanksgiving.
I'd like someone to get to the bottom of how this could happen. If some idiot finds all the LG washers hiding in some warehouse nearby, please move up my installation date as soon as possible. I have already waited for an unreasonable amount of time.
