Order delayed. I want to switch to a pickup rather then ship but customer service said I can't?

I placed an order for 2 cell phones on the 4th. I paid extra to get them to arrive today when I need them. I got an text update last night at 11:40pm that they are delayed and I will be notified when they ship. I really need these devices before the weekend because my wifes current phone is dead. I called as soon as customer serice opened and tried to switch it to a pickup order but they told me that I they are waiting on carrier pickup and they can't change anything until that happens. I am trying to do everything I can to make sure that I can get these devices today. Please let me know what I need to do to make this happen.
