I just placed an order online via help from an agent and was told I could not apply my gift card towards tax. I've never had this come up before when purchasing things, I've always been able to use the full value of the gift card as my understanding is it's just like cash. Can you please help me understand why I was not able to use the gift card? now I'm stuck with a $100 gift card I can't use.

Hi there, cardiacmommy,
Welcome to the Best Buy Forums and thank you for taking the time to write in to us.
As someone who loves a good bargain, I can certainly understand wanting to take advantage of your gift card. As long as the gift card equals or exceeds the balance on your order, it should be applicable towards taxes. There are a small handful of items and services that Best Buy gift cards can not be used on, as outlined within our gift cards Terms. With that being said, the My Best Buy reward certificates may be used on any qualifying product or service in an amount greater than the value of the reward certificate, excluding sales tax. For clarification, was it a Best Buy gift card or My Best Buy reward certificate you were trying to use?
