open box damaged iPad Pro from the store and they are not taking it back.... pleas

I wanted to let you know that I am bestbuy elite-plus member from last 7 years which means I am spending at-least $3500 every year on bestbuy which is my significant amount of paycheck every month. 

 

I am a die heart fan of best buy and I always make my purchase at BestBuy even if the product is cheaper in any other website including Amazon and other BIG retailers. This time I had a serious trouble (first time in the history of my best buy interaction though) when my wife and I purchased an IPAD PRO on 9th September 2019 - an open box with Geek Squad certified which says on the box that product is not broken or damaged. 

 

We took it at a great deal price when we reached home and opened the box I was surprised to see that the ipad was having a crack on the screen.Since I do not wanted to lose the deal I went to the store next day to check what can be done to fix that and I was surprised that they directed me to contact customer care as they were suspecting that i broke the screen. As per the instruction I called the customer service and after couple of routing my call went to the support person (I do not want to take any name as he might have told what he was trained to do) who told me that he cannot do anything about it but can give an appointment to GeekSquad who can give me an estimate to fix the screen. He also told me that I have to pay the expense out of my pocket. I then asked for supervisor and i was told that i am getting transfer and then got hanged up or disconnected from BB end. My question is why as a customer I have to do all these things when I went to get the resolution on the next day and I was still in the return period. As per apple it is going to take $500 to fix the screen, I am looking for bestbuy to compensate it for the amount.

 

May I ask for the quick resolution if possible please ? As I told you that I am a big fan of best buy since the inception, i do not want to report it to BBB or report it to my credit card for dispute
