Best Buy Gift card

Today i purchased a bestbuy gift card and when scratching off to get card # and pin, some of the numbers are not legible. When i googled this problem, many others have had the same issue. I called customer service, and they were not helpful. How can i resolve this.

Customer service should be able to send you a new one with the information off you original reciept

i callled customer care , they said go back their was nothing they could do and next time i should have the local store "show me how to properly scratch off sticker" and  the rep then had a good laugh at my situation.

i called ustomer care again and they are telling me they cannot help and to go back to the store where it was purchased. I am confused as i have seen so may respnsones in this forum where moderators are sending people in this scenario to customer care. Unless i have 2 agents who are cofused, cutomer czre cannot help in this scenario.

Where did you purchase the gift card? Was it at a Best Buy store or was it at another retailer? If it was in a Best Buy store, they can look up the gift card number and reissue you another card. If it was at another retailer than that retailer would be responsible for replacing the card. The only reason Best Buy can't look up the card number is that it would be in that third party retailer's point of sale system and not Best Buy's.

Bought it from a Best Buy store, depsite multiple folks advising customer care can reissue the card, i have had multiple customer care agents advise that they cannot do anything.

As someone who works in a store - they can reissue the card. The store can reissue it, not over-the-phone care. I would call the store and ask to speak to a manager. They should be able to look up the receipt for the gift card number and then verify that the funds are still on the card. When they verify it they should be able to transfer the funds to another card. If you're having issues with that, one of the forum moderators will be by the thread shortly (can take a few days) and they'll be able to assist you further. Their names end in -BBY

Went to the store , with the receipt in hand , and they were able to give me the card # and see that the balance is all there. Spoke with Manager at length, and she will not re-issue the card without the PIN ( it is also scratched out ) and customer care cannot provide the PIN. Manager was able to provide the card # to me , but as far as i am aware you cannot make a purchase online , or check balance without PIN.

It’s frustrating you’re having such a struggle with this. At this point I would wait for one of the corporate moderators to swing by. Now that you have the card number they may be able to help.

Welcome to the Best Buy Support Forums! It truly disappoints me to hear that you are having so much trouble getting assistance with your concerns about your gift card. While it's been a while, I can definitely relate as I have had a similar thing happen once before with a prepaid gift card, and know how disappointing it can be to realize that you've just accidentally scratched off the number to your gift card.
