Windows 7 Upgrade Difficulties

Some customers have notified us of difficulties when submitting for the Windows 7 upgrade from select computer manufacturers.  Best Buy is aware of these issues, and we are researching a solution at this time.  I will post updates with new information as it becomes available.

We appreciate your patience – please know we are doing all we can to help resolve this quickly!

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade Difficulties

Any updates to this issue?

I placed an order on 07/22/2009, and just tried to register today and it tells me that it's invalid.

Thanks, waiting for your reply.

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade Difficulties

ASUS is one manufacture, I was advised by your store associate that the windows 7 upgrade was free it is not,

ASUS is in Taiwan and so you have three methods to verify proof of purchase, air mail to Taiwan, international fax or email.  I sent my email in august for my free upgrade they still have not confirmed receiving it or verified proof of purchase and I send one every week in .pdf  and .jpeg no one at Best Buy Cares nor ASUS wants to help figure this out, and I am sure I am not the only one with this problem. So i doubt I will have windows 7 anytime soon, and I was mislead by Best Buy and Best Buy doesn't seem to care.  I can ell by this guy who posted this way back in July  so its on to the BBB, the Department of Justice the FTC , Digg, PC World, Cnet and the news media with this fantastic story.

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade Difficulties

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME, OR GIVE ME A DIRECT LINK ON HOW, & WHERE TO ORDER MY FREE UPGRADE OF WINDOWS 7 FOR MY BRAND NEW QUALIFIED LAPTOP I JUST PURCHASED FROM BESTBUY A MONTH AGO.  I DONT WANT THE GEEK SQUAD 39.99 PAGE WINDOWS 7 PAGE, BEEN THERE TOO.  I WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO ORDER IT, PAY THE SHIPPING COST FOR WINDOWS 7 AND INSTALL IT MYSELF. SEEMS ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM NOT BEING ABLE TO FIND THIS SITE, AND IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING TO HAVE TO GO THRU ALL OF THIS.  ANY HELP FROM ANYONE WOULD GREATLY BE APPRECIATED.  BESTBUY IS BEING VERY VAGE, AND NOT TO CLEAR ON HOW TO ORDER WINDOWS 7 UPGRADE. BUT THEY SURE ARE PUSHING THE GEEK SQUAD WILL UPGRADE & ORDER YOUR WINDOWS 7 FOR 39.99.  VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH BESTBUY RIGHT NOW. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT TOO. NO HELP, AND GOT THREE SITE FROM THEM THAT DIDNT PAN OUT EITHER. ANY HELP WOULD BE NICE. THANK YOU, RONPARR2

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade Difficulties

I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ITEM FROM BEST BUY, AND I WILL BE FORWARDING MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS NEW LAPTOP, & THE SO CALLED FREE WINDOWS 7 UPGRADE THAT I STILL HAVENT RECIEVED. YOU DO NOT DESERVE MY BUSINESS, OR MY COMPANYS ASWELL.  NOONE HAS EVEN TRIED TO HELP ME WITH THIS SITUATION FROM BEST BUY.  AND TO NOT EVEN HAVE A RECORD OF MY LAPTOP PURCHASE ON FILE BECAUSE I PAID CASH IS FLAT OUT OBSURD.  I PAID CASH FOR THE INSURANCE & YOU HAVE THAT ON RECORD, WHY NOT THE $700.00 DOLLAR PLUS PURCHASE OF MY LAPTOP? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?  TO ME THAT IS BAD BUSINESS, AND NOTHING BESTBUY CAN DO OR SAY CAN CHANGE MY MIND NOW. THIS WHOLE THING HAS BEEN ONE BIG HASSLE AND BESTBUY HAS BEEN ZERO HELP IN TRYING TO RESOLVE MY ISSUES. AND FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE FEEL THE SAME WAY.  THANKS FOR NOTHING, RONALD PARRISH.

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade Difficulties

Hi

On 6/29/09 I purchased an Asus laptop from the BB on 6th Ave in NYC. I was assured by the sales person that I was entitled to a free Windows 7 upgrade when it became available. The machine I was purchasing would be upgraded by Asus. Asus now is telling me that this model is not covered under the upgrade deal. Best Buy told me it was. Both are telling me it’s the other parties' problem.

Help - how can we resolve this!!

Thanks Rick
