Re: Roku 3 vs Blueray

Both will do what you need. Just make sure the streaming sites you want are supported with the item you purchase.

The main advantage of a Roku would be that they can play many more video codecs then a blu ray. This only matters if you have actually downloaded movies or ripped them from a disc.

For streaming purposes there will be little difference.

Re: Roku 3 vs Blueray

I currently own 2 rokus. They are great. I would rather have a small box than the huge bulky blu ray player.  I love the idea of the new head phone feature on the roku three. it lets you plug in headphones to the remote to listen to content being played on your tv. The roku app for smart phones is also great in that it lets you use your smart phone as a remote if you are too lazy to get up from the recliner to find the remote. Smiley Happy

I vote roku.

Xavier, most blue ray players also have a remote app for phones as long as its on the same network.

Just letting the OP know as its an even field on that one
