I hope someone here can help. I purchased this tv over a week ago and just picked up a vga cable to hook up my computer to it. My computer is a HP Pavilion a6300f and was purchased back in 2008. So it only has a DVI and VGA hookup, and I'm using the DVI for my monitor. I followed the directions in the manual to the letter, and made sure that the cables were screwed in tight, and the TV was not detecting the VGA hook up. And I've tried to do some searching for this problem, but no luck so far. If someone can help I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.

Are you using DVI or VGA? You said you bought a VGA cable and the TV is not detecting the VGA cable but also said you are selecting DVI on the TV. Make sure you are selecting the correct input on your TV.

You must use the Function keys on the HP computer to extend the desktop to the TV. The TV must be on and connected when the computer boots. Use the appropriate Function key combo to cycle through the various desktop modes...You'll be able to clone your desktop to the TV, extend your desktop to the TV, or make the TV your primary video monitor.

What I meant was I'm using the VGA hook up from the computer to the TV. The DVI hook up goes from my computer to my monitor. And I know that the VGA will only show video, not audio. And I have an audio cable for that. What function keys would I use to extend the desktop? And I didn't know I could clone the desktop to the TV, could you explain that? Thanks.

On my HP, it is Function f4, but it may be different from your model. You'll need to check the owners manual for yours to be sure.

Sorry...see that you are using a desktop. It will be under the properties for your video driver. Can't help you there because I don't know what your video card is, nor do I know which version of the driver your are using.
