Best buy seems to be featuring the Olympus line for all their waterproof cameras but every review I have seen rates the Canon Powershot D10 much higher. BB carries Canon extensively except in waterproof cameras. Why is this?

They were going to carry it but decided not to for whatever reason as it was on their website before the street date. I know that shipments of that model took a few months to reach this country after the official launch date whereas Asia and Europe had it from the start so that might be why.

So it is almost Christmas and Best Buy still does not carry the industry leading Canon D10?  What gives?  I am here waiting to give Best Buy my money but they won't take it.  Doesn't make sense since Olympus does not stand by their products since if you get water in your waterproof camera they won't support it.

They do carry it. You have to order it through their Best Buy For Business offerings and you can use your Reward Zone membership if you have one. All you have to do is walk into a store and find one of the BB4B folks. They don't care if you are a business or not. Their current price for it is around 380 bucks which is significantly higher than other retailers. You'd be an irredeemable idiot to buy it at that price but you can get it from them nonetheless.

I don't think anyone would agree that carrying a product in this method is normal and at that price point.  In a regular consumer environment with a competitive price, this product does not exist at Best Buy.  A mAjor online retailer has this priced at $272 and dropping as do many other retailers.  You don't have to ask for their business catalog to get an inflated price.

I agree completely that very few people would pay substantially more money for this camera than they could get it at other retailers, and I definitely appreciate the fact that you want to purchase this camera from Best Buy®. Believe me that we would love to be able to sell you this camera, but at this time we aren't carrying it. When we are not carrying a specific model it is not always a decision that we made to not carry that model. Sometimes the vendor has agreements with other retailers that either don't allow us to provide our customer's a specific model at a competative price, or their agreements don't allow us to get this model at all. There are actually many factors that could cause us to not be able to carry a specific model, and it would be impossible for me to know the reason in this specific case. I really wish we I could tell you that we will be carrying this soon, but unfortunately this is not the case.
