I just applied for a Best Buy credit card to take advantage of the 3 year no interest promotion on DSLR cameras but was turned down because "Our inability to positively verify your identity". Does anyone know what this means? I'm not really sure what this is referring to as I have a pretty good credit score. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi jwilliams –
Welcome to the Best Buy forums!
I can understand your confusion as to why you were denied a Best Buy credit card; especially since you have a pretty good credit score. This message in reference to an application denial usually is not because of your credit, but rather due to conflicting personal information on HSBC’s end.
The Best Buy credit card is funded by HSBC, which is a separate company, and we do not have access to the application process internally held with HSBC. Generally when HSBC declines a credit application because they cannot verify the applicant, it can be sorted out and resolved by calling HSBC since they ultimately make the decision to approve or deny all applications.
I would recommend calling an HSBC credit specialist at 800-365-0292 to obtain more information on this and hopefully resolve your application.
I hope this helps, but if you have any other questions please feel free to reach out to us here on the forums.
