52" Samsung TV

I have contacted Best buy, numerous times concerning the 52" Samsung TV advertised for $9.99, I have been placed on hold many times, then when phone acts like its connecting it just hangs up on you instead.  I was able to placed 2 different orders for this TV, since i was able to place my orders i also would like to know Best Buys plans for correcting this.  This is not the consumers fault and, how is the consumer suppose to know that your employees made some very serious errors.  Best Buy should be willing to step up to there responsibility and honor the price your employees  advertised.  No matter what the mistake is or who made the mistake it was done through your advertising.  Why is it when the consumer makes a mistake for example late on Best Buys credit card payment or another example say someone writes a check thats returned ect. the consumer always pays the price, like added fees for credit card pymts being late, added fees on a honest mistake of a return check.  I am fortunate I have neither of these.

I hope the media does not get a hold of this but, to be honest if Best Buy doesn't honor this then I think the news channels should hold a discussion concerning this, for example talk back live.  The public should be notified that if Best Buy does not stand by there prices, then they should be very careful when purchasing from them, due to the fact that just because its advertised does not mean you will get to purchase it at that price.

Re: 52" Samsung TV

My family, friends, and I are bring this issue to Federal Trade Commission, since the only thing Best Buy can do is "we apology for for the pricing error and we will not honor the incorrect price," so we have to do something to protect our rights as customers.  I don't like to be lied to and Best Buy did just that. If they weren't going to honor the price then they should have double checked what price they put up there. Best Buy also lost me as a customer forever.

Re: 52" Samsung TV

Come on guys...get real.  There's no way a $2000 TV is going to be sold for $9.99 (I originally thought it was a $999 "low-end TV)--it was obviously a mistake in pricing.  I'm glad I wasn't the individual that posted that on the web...that was quite a blunder.

Anyway, rather than fruitlessly trying to work the FTC (BB is protected against pricing errors you'll find), why don't you instead try to get a 20% or so discount on the unit if you really want it by talking to a store manager directly.  Work in the "inconvience" by telling them you travelled 100 miles to get it due to the incorrect price or something like that (especially if you "purchased" it), but that's about the best you can ask for.

Leave poor Elizabeth alone :smileyhappy:

Re: 52" Samsung TV

I think Best Buy should honor the price THEY put on THIER website.  I understand that people should have known that the price was wrong, but it is not up to the comsumer to make sure pricing is correct it is up to the seller.

I'll tell you how you were supposed to know: common sense. $1700 TVs are not sold for $10. Get over it.

People have sold much more expensive items for less.  Many also thought it may have been a very limited offer on BB part.  An offer which would have gained them valuable press.  BB sells tv for $9.99!  Custumers rejoice!  Or something along those lines.

Not if it results in fantastic press and new loyal customers.  You have to spend money to make money.
