Well, I have been a loyal Best Buy customer...until yesterday. My son just built his first computer and has been slowly buying piece by piece over the last few months. Between that and gifts we have spent thousands of dollars at Best Buy within the past year. So it turns out the RAM sticks he purchased were the wrong size when he went to connect them. I took them back to the store and was told there was nothing they could do for me. I wasnt asking for cash back, all I wanted to do was exchange them for the correct product that he needed. But Nope, Nothing...Since there was no where else local that sold the part he needed, I reluctantly spent another $170 at your store (which will be the last bit of money you will get from me). I will be sure to let everyone know about Best Buy and their horrible customer service!

I've never built a computer myself, but I know a few people who do it regularly, and I can say that it's a feat many people are not up to. That's cool your son has used his time (and money) to design and build his own! Your post didn't specifically call out when his RAM was purchased, but I will say that after your return period ends, we unfortunately can't offer a return or exchange on a product. In most situations, this would be 15 days, unless you're an Elite or Elite Plus member, in which case you would have 30 or 45 days, respectively.
I'm sorry that the upholding of our policy disappointed you, but I hope that your son is able to successfully finish building his computer! I'd be interested to see how it turns out!

Thanks for joining us at the Best Buy Community forums. Building a computer can be a lot of fun, but finding the right parts can definitely be a trick sometimes. I’m sorry to hear that the RAM didn’t fit and that you were unable to return it.
As Sam15 mentioned, under our Return & Exchange Promise we do offer a 15 day return period for most items we sell, with a 30 or 45 day extended policy for our Elite and Elite Plus My Best Buy members, respectively. Using the information in your post and in your forum registration, I was able to locate you in our systems and it looks like you are an Elite member which would grant you a 30 day window in which to return your item.
I was also able to look in to your purchase history with us and found that the RAM purchase was made in January, and as such is outside of the 30 day return window. Because of that, we wouldn’t be able to return your Ram under that Promise. I apologize that we weren’t able to help you out in this case.
I’ll be sure to document this in our corporate systems, as we value feedback from our customers. I hope that you’ll be willing to come back in to a Best Buy and give us a chance to win back your loyalty in the future.
