Note 7 pre order

I'm a bit confused. I went into a Best Buy today to pre order a Samsung Note 7. I had to pay off the rest of my current phone and thought I was getting a Best Buy gift card for using your store rather than the Verizon store around the corner. Instead I was charged for a $50 gift card (which I don't want) and was told it was part of the pre order? Why is buying a $50 gift card mandatory for a pre order? This makes no sense.

That's just basically how they process the deposit for a pre order. When you go to pick the phone up use that gift card when you make the purchase.

That makes no sense. If I make a deposit on the phone it should either go toward my phone or get returned. I shouldn't have to buy something else from you I don't need.

It's just being put on there to hold the phone that's all. You could cance it and get refunded if you want. It's just how they do it. I did the same thing.

Re: Note 7 pre order

Hello darrenkenney,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum regarding your Samsung Galaxy Note7 pre-order! It looks like a phenomenal phone, so I'm sure you're excited to get your hands on it.

As part of our in-store pre-ordering process, customers are typically required to purchase a $50 Best Buy gift card. This gift card is then able to be redeemed at the time of pickup. I apologize if this part of our process is at all inconvenient or distasteful for you. With that said, please know that any free gift card offers that you may qualify for would be fulfilled at the time of pickup.

Regards,

The process makes no sense. In order for me to give you business I need to commit another $50 to best buy? Every other company on the planet will simply do a $50 hold on a credit card. Rest assured this will be the last time I do a pre order through your company.

Re: Note 7 pre order

That is exactly the same thing as putting a $50 hold on a credit card.

Re: Note 7 pre order

How is me buying a $50 gift card the same as them holding $50 on a credit card? If I show up I get my $50 on the credit card back with a gift card I now get the privilege of buying $50 more of best buys merchandise. My phone is paid off, I'll pay a monthly payment on the note 7, why would I need a non refundable $50 deposit?

Re: Note 7 pre order

I don't think you understand. And who says its non refundable. And how is your phone paid off if you do installments also. When you go to pick your phone up if you do installments. You have to pay the sales tax. You will use the gift card for that.
