Best Buy & Geek Squad Policies

We had a pre-ordered item ship to our APO AE address on the 27th of Oct and a according to the tracking info the last entry is the 30th and we still have not received the item.  Does anyone know why it takes so long to get items to APO's from Best Buy or even Circuit City?  Don't get me wrong, we in the military are greatful that they will now ship items to us overseas but having to wait up to 6 or 7 weeks (sometimes longer) to get them is kind of crazy.  We have order items from  other on-line stores and have received them in a week to 10 days.  I'm just curious.   Thanks.

I have the same problem with something I ordered on the same date, fallout 3. Usually it arrives overseas in about a week +, but I'm really worried about my order now. Bestbuy shipped it via XMEX (never heard of it) instead of UPS and after 2 weeks all it has told me is "shipping info is unavailable at this time?" I'm losing my patience with this one. The APO is usually a nightmare as well, it's gotten better over the years though.

I have always had great luck shipping overseas using USPS, they have flat rate boxes and have guarenteed delivery dates.  Dont know why your packages get stuck though.

We have never had any problems receiving packages that are sent USPS either but this package started out from UPS and then USPS took over from there.  From the tracking info we recieved UPS had it from 27-29 Oct then it was transferred to USPS on the 30th and that is the last entry on the tracking info.  I just don't understand why packages from these companies take so long.  My neighbor had a computer from the other big electronics company take 8 weeks to get here.  Here's another example; while I was at the post office on base, a guy just recieved the exact thing I have been waiting for.  His came from the store with a bull's eye as a symbol and only took 2 weeks and it came USPS.  So I'm just wondering why it takes so long from here.

I can understand how exciting it can be when you make a new purchase, and how waiting for shipping can be almost impossible! My sister has been in the Navy for 12 years and packages sometimes seem to take forever to get to her through her APO.

I did some research on why it takes longer to ship to an APO from Best Buy® as opposed to some other retailers. While other retailers are not my expertise, I found out that Best Buy® has a limited amount of warehouses which are capable of sending to APO’s. If the product you wanted was not available in one of those designated warehouses, it would need to be shipped to the proper location then routed to an APO. This could cause a small delay. Other than this factor, we really do not have too much control over the postal service. In addition, if the item is being shipped overseas, we again are not able to control shipping once it leaves the APO. In addition, items shipped overseas can incur an additional wait time due to customs inspections.

I know this does not help with your time delay, however I hope it offers a bit of explanation to your question.

Just an update on my original post.  Here it is 4 Dec 08 and we still haven't received our order that was shipped 27 Oct 08 and no real answer as to why it takes so long from Best Buy when other on-line electronics stores take less than 2 weeks.  Our De11 computer made it here in 2 weeks.  We are so frustraded with BB that we are to the point of never purchasing anything from them again.

when (if ever) did u actually recieve your item?  and where are u stationed?  i am currently waiting on something and i am wondering how long i should wait before contacting customer service about it

That user last signed in on 12-10-08. It's very unlikely that they'll ever come back.

My understanding, while stationed in Germany, Japan, and Korea was that anything shipped overseas would have no guaranteed delivery dates because once they leave the continental US, they are no longer in the control of the USPS, but the APO/FPO and therefore cannot be tracked or guaranteed.

If BB does have only a few warehouses that can ship overseas, then the problem is simply exacerbated by that situation.
