Re: I will NEVER EVER go to Best Buy, or use the Geek Squad, AGAIN!!!

Furthermore Bob, on top of the huge cost that Best Buy loses from me no longer being a customer...there were countless customers within the 20 minute time period, that I spent arguing with the Geek Squad, that witnessed my poor treatment by the Geek Squad. That will certainly go through the minds of those customers next time they have something go wrong with their electronics and are trying to determine whether or not the Geek Squad is the right choice. It is a huge cost to Best Buy, Bob.

Either you are somehow still missing the point. Or you have chosen to ignore it.

The point being that - If Best But had not decided to give you a refund, in an attempt to placate you. What could you, or would you have done? Stopped giving them your business? That is certainly your prerogative. Publicly criticize Best Buy? Also your prerogative. They could of achieved those results for free, meaning without paying you the refund that they did pay you.

But, they did pay you the refund, in violation of policy, in an attempt to placate you.

Instead of just quietly putting the money in your pocket. And then going about your business in whatever way that pleases you. You found it necessary to demonstrate your complete lack of gratitude for the policy exception that was made for you. And your complete lack of consideration for other Best Buy customers, who might have similar issues. By continuing to publicly criticize Best Buy, on their own forum. Thereby, greatly embarrassing the person who made the decision to give you the refund.

You bit the hand that fed you. And encouraged management to conclude that it is foolishly counterproductive to make exceptions to existing policy. Because, in your case, your reaction to getting an exception refund. Was to figuratively give Best Buy, and the individual who authorized your refund, a public kick in the teeth.

You did wrong. Very wrong!

Re: I will NEVER EVER go to Best Buy, or use the Geek Squad, AGAIN!!!

So, you think I should be silent about the way that Best Buy and the Geek Squad treated me, and not make other customers aware, because Best Buy gave me my refund? I don't think so, Bob. I suppose you are the Guardian of Best Buy on these forums and are willing to protect their "good name" in your free time. So, good job...you protect these forums. But Best Buy should be aware that their current path is not one that is generating good publicity. My experience only adds to the poor reviews that I have heard from friends, and strangers, in the past days. Look through the forums on Best Buy's own website and you will see the abundance of "never shop at best buy again" type posts. Attempt to censor the bad reviews, Bob, but I will still make my fellow customers aware of the poor treatment I initially received from the Geek Squad.

Re: I will NEVER EVER go to Best Buy, or use the Geek Squad, AGAIN!!!

I am with Ghostbuster2010 on this on. I will never be shopping at Best Buy again after the terrible service they gave given me. This forum is full of a bunch of self righteous people who for some reason see the need to defend this retailer. When I posted here it took them over a week to respond, and then they tried to sell me a higher priced item than the rain check I had been given (which they wouldn't honor).

Geek Squad is full of nerds that think they know what they are doing, but don't.  I have a laptop with switchable graphics and they said my warranty was voided for adding my own GPU?!?!?!?!?!  It took literally 45 minutes for the guy to call somebody and figure out was switchable graphics was.

I will continue to shop at BestBuy but I don't need geek squad.

Changing your gpu can void your coverage as it does state that unauthorized modifications are not covered by the plan and any issues that could have arose from your switching of it wouldn't be covered. Changing ram could do this as a non authorized technician is changing a part. About the only thing you can do on your own and have it covered is swap the battery :smileyhappy:

If Best Buy hadn't run diags on it, they would have replaced the Power Supply handed the computer back to you, and charged you the $54 and not told you exactly what was wrong with the machine...
