Anyone else NOT getting their "guaranteed" Christmas delivery?

What a joke.  Why on earth would you ship something via UPS ground tell people that you are guaranteeing delivery by 12/25?

Looks like my wife's present will be here on 12/29, according to UPS.

Re: Anyone else NOT getting their "guaranteed" Christmas delivery?

I will be giving B.B negative feedback on every opinion site I can. I ordered the 18th. I was willing to pay for expedited delivery, but that showed the same delivery date (12/23-12/24) as standard. According to UPS tracking, my item sat at one of their hubs in Hodgkins, Ill from 8am 12/20 to 8:40 am 12/22. At first the tracking showed it to be ontime, until Sat, when UPS site changed it to the 29th.  I'm in Northern California, surely they must be able to ship from somewhere closer to the West Coast than Ohio. ESPECIALLY in winter. I just now got back from having to go to store to buy item to have for Christmas Day. It took two hours total. I was all done shopping (mostly online) and have had no problems with any other sites' delivery time.

And watch, I bet they'll try to weasel out of the 'digital coupons' by saying the delay was caused by inclement weather. Well, DUH. Just what do they think Ohio and Ill are like in the winter?

There was obviously a breakdown in communication between them and UPS, or there was deceit somewhere. Maybe BestBuy should look into changing to a carrier which carries through.

AND, their site still maintains delivery by 24th, if you want to pay some high fee, and even then I bet orders won't arrive until after Christmas.

Re: Anyone else NOT getting their "guaranteed" Christmas delivery?

That's pretty much the same story as I have - the package sat in the facility at Hodgkins until yesterday.

I called BB to complain about the failed delivery and they couldn't help me.  I asked them to send another one via two-day and I would send the original back when it got here on the 29th.  For some reason, they refused.

I've learned my lesson and hope it prevents someone else from having his or her Christmas ruined.

Yep, I'm in the same boat. I will definitely go out of my way to NOT buy anything

from Best Buy again. Now I have to find a similar product (at a reputable store) on

Christmas Eve.

Thankfully Staples had what I ordered in stock, albeit the wrong color. Now all I need is a prepaid UPS shipping label so I can send the item back to BB.

Congratulations, B_H. I just found a better product at a cheaper price at (name censored

by Best Buy). Rhymes with Shmam-ah-zon dot com. They know the meaning of the word

guaranteed. I've used them for many years now, not one problem.

Re: Anyone else NOT getting their "guaranteed" Christmas delivery?

Yes, I am in the same boat. I live about 30 miles from Best Buy, so when I ordered an MP3 player for my son for Christmas, and was given the option of "guaranteed Christmas delivery", it sounded better than making a 60 mile round trip to pick it up. What a joke. They shipped it on Dec 20 standard UPS. NOBODY ships standard on 12/20 for "guaranteed" delivery, NOBODY! And now they are offering me a $20 gift certificate, in case I want to have the pleasure of ordering more stuff from them? Unbelievable! That is poor customer service, folks.

I'd like to know what genius in their marketing department thought up this hare-brained scheme.

This was my son's only Christmas present this year, as we are on a very tight budget right now. I am sure that showing a 12 year old Best Buy's comforting email on Christmas morning will make up for the lack of a present under the tree - NOT!

Here's the kicker - when I called their customer service line to complain, and try to arrange in-store pickup instead, here is what I was told:

1) I can't do that until tomorrow (I am sure that the item will probably be sold out by then)

2) I can't speak to a supervisor!

I have never liked shopping at Best Buy, I find their stores cold and impersonal, with indifferent customer service, so this is the final nail in the coffin. I will never EVER buy anything from this company again, and will tell everyone I know to avoid it.

Too bad CC is going under, at least they had decent customer service and helpful salespeople. This place is a joke.

Sorry to hear you were burned too. Best Buy WILL go the way of C.C. eventually with

"service" like this. Through word-of-mouth and personal experiences, people will find

other/better options.

[ Edited ]

p.s. here is the final insult:

I figured I would just go purchase the MP3 player in store and send back the one arriving on the 30th. It is now $10 more!

I think I will look elsewhere. They really try hard to lose your business, don't they??

Re: Anyone else NOT getting their "guaranteed" Christmas delivery?

My final post:

I looked at CC, who are still operating stores, and who are apparently making a big push at getting customers back. They had a higher version of the MP3 player I bought from BB for only $10 more ($30 off list). I bought it from their website and am picking it up in their store. They guarantee they'll have it there in 24 minutes to pick up, or they'll give you a $24 gift card on the spot. I think that is pretty good customer service. It's worth the 45 minute ride for me, and off I go! I plan to cancel my order with BB, when I can get through to their customer service again. Not having the one present I bought for my kid under the tree Christmas morning is just not an option, and BB should have realized this. I see too many similar posts on this board.
